The Sea Around Us: Mako Sharks - Last December we encountered a mako shark swimming at the surface, I had seen a couple before, but not like this. We stopped the motor and watched it swim around our boat, coming back and forth slowly, very relaxed, and curious. All Things Reptile: No Coral Snakes in Baja California Sur - I want to make it clear that there are no coral snakes in Baja California Sur. There are, however, a variety of colorful nonvenomous snakes that are commonly encountered in our area, which is the main reason that coral snakes are believed to be here.
